Quels sont les avantages d’un van aménagé à toit relevable ?

La hauteur sous plafond une fois que le toit est levé ! La différence entre les positions basse et haute peut aller jusqu’à un mètre à l’endroit ou le toit est le plus élevé, ce qui n’est pas négligeable si l’on veut se redresser à l’intérieur du van aménagé. En bonus, le toit relevable permet d’accéder à deux couchages situés à l’étage supérieur.

Quel est le niveau de confort des couchages d’un van aménagé à toit relevable ?

En ce qui concerne le couchage du « rez-de-chaussée », c’est la banquette arrière qui s’allonge à l’horizontale pour former le lit. Bien que raide, celle-ci est très confortable une fois recouverte du sur-matelas fourni. A l’étage, il s’agit en revanche d’un véritable sommier (différent type selon les modèles de van aménagé à toit relevable), assurant un confort royal !

Y a-t-il des inconvénients au toit relevable ?

Pas vraiment. Ce qu’il faut savoir, c’est qu’une fois le toit relevé, le van aménagé perd effectivement son isolation. Ce qui peut être un avantage l’été puisque le van pourra rester aéré la nuit, et un inconvénient l’hiver puisque le van perdra alors de la chaleur. Ce désagrément pourra en revanche être compensé par l’utilisation du chauffage stationnaire.

Les toits amovibles de vans aménagés sont-ils faciles à manipuler ?

Certains modèles de vans aménagés à toit relevable sont dotés de vérins hydrauliques, la question ne se pose alors pas. Dans le cas contraire, la manipulation reste très simple. Il suffit pour monter le toit de le déverrouiller, d’ouvrir au moins une fenêtre pour permettre à l’appel d’air de se dérouler normalement, et de pousser vers le haut jusqu’au blocage des vérins pneumatiques. La manœuvre est à peu de choses près identiques dans l’autre sens : déverrouillage des vérins, ouverture d’une fenêtre, tirage vers le bas et verrouillage du toit. Attention, il faut juste bien veiller à ne pas pincer la toile du toit relevable lors de la fermeture, au risque de la déchirer.

What are the advantages of a campervan with a pop-up roof?

The ceiling height after the roof is gone! The difference between the low and high positions can be up to a meter where the roof is highest, which is not negligible if you want to stand up inside the campervan. As a bonus, the pop-up roof provides access to two sleeping places on the upper floor.

What is the sleeping comfort level in a campervan with a pop-up roof?

As for sleeping on the "ground floor", it is the back seat which extends horizontally to form the bed. Although stiff, it is very comfortable once covered with the supplied mattress topper. Upstairs, on the other hand, it is a real box spring (different type depending on the models of the van fitted with a lifting roof), ensuring royal comfort!

Are there any drawbacks to the pop-up roof?

Not really. What you should know is that once the roof is raised, the campervan does indeed lose its insulation. This can be an advantage in summer since the van can remain ventilated at night, and a disadvantage in winter since the van will then lose heat. This inconvenience could, however, be compensated by the use of stationary heating.

Are the removable roofs of campervan easy to handle?

Some models of campervans with a lifting roof are equipped with hydraulic cylinders, so the question does not arise. Otherwise, handling remains very simple. To mount the roof, all you need to do is unlock it, open at least one window to allow the air to flow normally, and push up until the air cylinders stop. The maneuver is pretty much the same the other way around: unlocking the jacks, opening a window, pulling down and locking the roof. Be careful, you just have to be careful not to pinch the canvas when closing, at the risk of tearing it.
