We Van You Shoot
Going on a photo road trip is like returning to our roots. That's how our story with photography began 10 years ago: a bag on our back, a camera around our neck and nature as our playground. [It could be a stone's throw from home, or on the other side of the world, all that mattered to us was the search for freedom, the need to disconnect...
Since then, our passion for photography and the outdoors has remained intact, but it's the way we travel that we've changed, putting aside the tent for the converted van. And we have to admit that we'd find it hard to go back today, given how comfortable and flexible campervan hire is for photo road trips.
De l'avantage de la location d'un van aménagé pour un séjour photo
The converted van, observatory and refuge
The van has the double advantage of being discreet and easy to move around, allowing us to set up our "base camp" as close as possible to the spots. A real opportunity for the photographer to shoot during golden hours, when the light is at its best, or to take refuge quickly when the weather turns bad.
The converted van, or the art of taking your time
When we're not out in the field shooting or scouting, we enjoy all the comforts of a campervan rental.
Our favorite moment? [The smell of coffee warming up in the van after a sunrise mission.
The van to carry it all
All photo and hiking enthusiasts have inevitably been confronted with the headache of transporting equipment. [Since we've opted to rent a converted van for our travels, we're no longer obliged to make concessions on comfort or the amount of gear we need to take with us.
An exceptional photo holiday
In our opinion, the photo roadtrip experience begins even before you hit the road. What a pleasure it is to plan a few weeks before departure: mapping out the route, finding photo points of interest and nightspots, studying the terrain, etc. [There's nothing like good preparation to optimize your van rental stay. David and Thibaut went to the Spanish Pyrenees and share 2-3 ideas for your next trip. [However, at the risk of contradicting themselves, don't forget to add a good dose of improvisation to your next road trip - you won't regret it!

The Spanish Pyrenees stretch over 400 km from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, with breathtaking scenery in a style quite different from our beloved French Pyrenees. [We rented a van for this trip in autumn, and can't recommend it highly enough: the colors and light are just incredible at this time of year! [Distances are often deceptive in these mountains, so we focused on a particular area to avoid missing out on the essentials.
We focused on the central part of the Spanish Pyrenees between two national parks: Monte Perdido National Park and Aigüestortes National Park.
Parque Nacional Monte Perdido Ouest
Superb hikes of varying levels, from half-day to 2-3 day loops.
Monte Perdido Est National Park
Other hiking trails in the National Park also offer opportunities to discover the region through other activities such as mountain biking or canyoning.
Overnight at Dry Lake
"Embalse de Mediano" and its desert atmosphere.
Aigüestortes National Park
Numerous hiking trails to discover this magnificent park dotted with over 200 lakes.
The Spanish Pyrenees, a superb discovery for a photo roadtrip in a campervan
With a climate and landscape quite different from those of the French Pyrenees, the Spanish side of the Pyrenees is a great place to discover for those who venture into the mountains! [We recommend two national parks in particular, which we really fell in love with: Parc Nacional Monte Perdido, located near Gavarnie, but just across the border (from where you can also see the famous Brèche de Roland). [Another must-see park in the region, perhaps a little less well-known than the first, is the Parc Nacional Aigüestortes. [With its pine forests, countless lakes and highly photogenic terrain, this park sometimes feels a little like Canada!
As you can see, you won't be bored in this region, which abounds in grandiose landscapes easily accessible by van!
Où dormir lors de son roadtrip photo en van aménagé ?
We did this van roatrip in the middle of autumn for several reasons. The first was to enjoy the autumnal colors of the region, and we didn't regret it as the color palettes were so sumptuous. [We also chose this time of year to avoid the tourists, who are inevitably more numerous at the height of summer. [Having done a few similar trips in France, we were surprised at how easy it was to find our nightspots. It's obviously forbidden to park in national parks to spend the night, but we found some nice spots nearby that made it easy to go hiking during the day, before heading back to our van for a nice evening out in the wilderness.
In any case, be discreet and respect the premises!
